We joined hands with Lions' Club international as well as Johnsons' and Johnsons' to co-organise the Sight For Kids program.
Two road shows with public lectures and on site screening were held on September 7, 2003 and September 28, 2003 respectively. Over 40 ophthalmologists from the public and private sectors came to help in the screening .
On the first screening day (Sept 7), a total of 650 children were screened. 175 children were referred. On the second screening day, of the 846 children screened, 242 children required referrals. Those children who required referrals were partially sponsored to see private ophthalmologists for detail assessment.
The project was a great success and aroused the public the importance of vision screening in children. It also showed to the public that as ophthalmologists we care about their vision.
