Hong Kong Ophthalmological Society

The World Glaucoma day was successfully held on 7th March 2010 at St. James Settlement. Dr. Nafees Baig served as the convenor of the event which was officiated by Dr. Nancy Yuen and Dr. Clement Chan among other officials. Mr. Alex Fong was invited to serve as the Glaucoma ambassador. Over 2 hours of glaucoma screening for over 70 participants was held. The message of timely glaucoma screening and exam by ophthalmologists was well disseminated.

Diabetic Retinopathy

A Diabetic Retinopathy public education event was held in conjunction with the College of Ophthalmologists of Hong Kong on 13th June 2010 at the Hospital Authority Headquarters. Led by Dr. Can Yuen, the event kick-started with a press conference held on 3rd June 2010. Wide media coverage by newspaper and radio attracted over 200 participants at the lecture and public screening event. The message of early detection of diabetic retinopathy and the various modalities of treatment was detailed at the lecture and was well received.
